Hollywood hunk Ross McCall showed his Port Glasgow roots this week when he was a guest of honour at David Beckham’s star-studded LA Galaxy debut.

For the footie fan ran the rule on quiet American crowds by pleading: ‘I’m a celebrity — get me shouting here!” Port-raised Ross, 30, said he was unimpressed by the lack of atmosphere as Becks’ mega-bucks new side took on Chelsea. In an exclusive interview, he told the Tele: “I went along to the game but I wore my Celtic hat to keep up appearances. Soccer is not a big game over here and there wasn’t as much singing as I would have liked — but there was a red carpet in typical LA fashion. “It is all about celebrity in LA so someone like David Beckham will do really well. I will be interested to see how it is in a year’s time.”

Before the big match, Ross, a former pupil of St Michael’s Primary, strolled along the red carpet with babe girlfriend Jennifer Love Hewitt. They joined fellow A-listers Katie Homes and Tom Cruise, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and Arnold Schwartzenegger in the crowd.

Ross, originally from Devol, shares a home in north Hollywood with gorgeous Jennifer and is forging a successful movie career. He has just finished filming a horror movie in Louisiana and has also completed a pilot for a TV comedy with LL Cool J. He said: “The movie is called Autopsy and we filmed in Louisiana at a functioning mental hospital. It is about four friends that end up in a hospital after a car crash and think they will be taken care of but you find out that they are in a very strange place with some very bad doctors. It is really creepy.” Since he moved to LA two years ago he has starred in Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s epic Band of Brothers, CSI and UK movie Green Street.

He still has strong links with Inverclyde as his parents Maggie and John live in Greenock’s Esplanade. Ross’s last film Trade Routes is being shown on the festival circuit in America at the moment and he says it is starting to create interest among critics. He said: “We have just won Best Foreign Film at the Method Fest in LA and we have been invited to Chicago as well. It is all going well, I am glad people are getting to see it now and recognise it for what it is. “You can do these horrors and comedies and they are very commercial but then you can go and do something different. Life is good.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt, who stars in CBS' supernatural drama Ghost Whisperer, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming third season will delve into the history of the fictional small town of Grandview and will explain her character's purpose there.

"It's sort of her calling to be there," Hewitt said in an interview at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Los Angeles on July 19. "So you'll find out more about the place that she lives in, and I think it'll help people understand a little bit why she seems to be this target all the time in this town and [why] everyone else, they just sort of live these peaceful lives. You will find out that that's sort of just the way her life is really supposed to be. And how Grandview plays into that."

The hit show's writers previously said that a theme of the new season will be the increasing power of the dark side. Hewitt expanded upon that idea, saying that the show will further explain the interest the dark side has in her character.

"I think the theme of this show has always been sort of Melinda being the light and how the dark is sort of always trying to squash her light," she said. "And the darkness will definitely get stronger this year, as it did in our season finale. I mean, the darkness really wipes her out, essentially. And will continue to want to do so."

Hewitt added that her show differs from others about psychics and mediums in that the mythology is constantly changing and expanding. "They try to keep people interested," she said of the show's writing staff. "We don't always want the show just to be about a woman who talks to ghosts and crosses them over into the light. We want to show that her life is complicated and sort of has a lot of different facets to it." Ghost Whisperer returns for its third season on September 28, 2007 and will air in its regular timeslot, Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS (USA).

Jennifer Love Hewitt has topped a new shame list of actor and actresses who record albums. The movie star's five albums land her at the number one spot on King magazine's Worst Celebrity Albums poll. Supermodel Naomi Campbell comes in second with her Baby Woman effort and Jamie-Lynn Sigler's Here To Heaven is named the third worst album. Also featured in the top 10, are David Hasselhoff, Jada Pinkett Smith and Eddie Murphy.

July 21st, 2007: Jennifer and Ross visited a LA Galaxy football match yesterday. It was the first soccer game for Jenny, Ross is a faithful Celtic's fan. The match was also watched by Eva Longoria, Katie Holmes or Arnlod Schwarzenegger. You can see 12 photos in the photogallery.

Jennifer Love Hewitt relishes her role as a ghost whisperer on TV. It has taught her a thing or two about appreciating life ... and death. Jennifer Love Hewitt’s cleavage raised a heated discussion in TV Guide recently. It was reported in the American magazine that Hewitt’s character in Ghost Whisperer, Melinda Gordon, had been baring a little bit more than necessary of late.

Why that has become a problem, beats me. Why her cleavage is being brought up only now escapes me too. Hasn’t Hewitt always flaunted her assets? Weren’t they the main draw in the slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer and its sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, which Hewitt headlined in 1997 and 1998? What we, members of the media gathered in an empty sound stage at a Universal Studio lot in Los Angeles, wanted to know was – what would Hewitt be wearing for the interview today? After all, she was to meet us immediately after finishing one of her scenes. She was making time to speak to us, in between takes, to promote the second season of Ghost Whisperer, but she was running late.
